WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 1) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that the firm’s Washington, D.C. office has recently been involved in community projects benefitting two long-time charitable partners, ThanksUSA and the American Cancer Society.
ThanksUSA
Led by Kilpatrick Townsend’s Washington, D.C. Office Managing Partner, Steve Baskin and Partner Barry Fleishman, the D.C. office recently donated to ThanksUSA 100 copies of the book "The Instant Survivor: Right Ways To Respond When Things Go Wrong" written by Jim Moorhead. Mr. Baskin serves on the Board of Directors of this organization.
ThanksUSA is a non-partisan, charitable effort to mobilize Americans of all ages to "thank" the men and women of the United States armed forces. The organization provides need-based college, technical and vocational school scholarships for their children and spouses. This book has been requested by several armed forces organizations to help members cope with their experiences abroad and at home.

American Cancer Society
Kilpatrick Townsend’s Washington, D.C. office has a long history of leadership with the American Cancer Society (ACS). The office is currently involved in the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative as a corporate member of the ACS Corporate Executive Council for the Washington D.C. region, and Mr. Baskin serves as the Council’s Chairman. The Coaches vs. Cancer initiative was founded by the ACS and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and through this program 993 coaches have raised over $75 million to benefit ACS.
Recently, on Friday, January 20, several Kilpatrick Townsend attorneys attended the ACS Coaches vs. Cancer 2012 Suits and Sneakers Tip Off Breakfast at the Verizon Center. Head coaches from each of the major D.C. colleges were in attendance including John Thompson from Georgetown University. Paul Hewitt, head coach at George Mason University, was a featured speaker and introduced a moving presentation from a cancer survivor and former athlete. The event closed with ACS representatives explaining the Suits and Sneakers opportunities for the workplace. The firm’s Washington, D.C. office is honored and excited to be a part of the Suits and Sneakers Challenge and to have the opportunity to assist with this great cause.
